True Travel Foundation - 2024 in Review

2024 saw the True Travel Foundation continue to grow, both in the funds that we raised and the projects that we supported as we welcomed the UK-based Newman Holiday Trust to the Foundation. Full details on the incredible work they do with disabled children across the UK can be found on their dedicated page. It was also a seminal year as we gratefully accepted our first private donations from our wonderfully loyal repeat clients. This initiative allows travellers to donate directly to a project or projects that are especially close to their heart, be they from previous or upcoming travels, or simply a cause that they want to support on a more focused level.

We wrapped up the year with our customary round-ups from each of the projects that we support and are delighted to see the progress that both the projects themselves are making, and the impact that they have on the individual participants. Whilst we never choose favourites, it is always heartwarming to see the progress that Brayan Quispe who we support through the Sol y Luna Foundation has progressed through their inspirational education programme. Equally, some incredible strides were made at Time + Tide’s Female Empowerment programme in the South Luangwa National Park and the wonderful work of the Rucksack Project continues to inspire. Again, full details of the progress made can be found on their individual pages.

The final numbers and amounts for 2024 worked out as follows:

Projects: £23,303,82 raised from donations through True Travel with a further £5,000 private donation made to support two individual projects. This money raised was split evenly between the four projects and the final total, preceding the private donation meant we exceeded our target for donations in the year 2024 by 16%

Seawilding: We also raised a staggering £52,793.10 for our innovative partners at Loch Craignish in Scotland, which allows them to continue their groundbreaking blue carbon capture project research and development.

Of course, none of these funds would be raised without the buy-in, both from the team at True Travel and the support of our travellers who donate through every booking that is made. Even small amounts of money make a huge difference to these projects and allow us to continue to help them support young people across the globe and have incredibly positive impacts on their lives.

We look forward to continuing to support these projects, and more, for many years to come with fundraising initiatives going beyond the trips we offer and into more exciting and innovative areas.
